The Journal of Food Safety and Food Quality (previously since 1955 Archive for Food Hygiene , abbreviated Arch. Lebensm. history

In January 1950, the first edition of the Archive for Food Hygiene was published under the title Der Lebensmittelierarzt . The editor and editor was Fritz Schönberg from the Institute for Veterinary Food Science at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover . The "food veterinarian" initially appeared monthly as a supplement to the "German Veterinary Weekly". In 1955 the magazine was renamed and from it the archive for food hygiene, especially for meat, fish and milk hygiene .

The editorial board was supported for the first time by an editorial board with the members of the board of the German Veterinary Medical Society (DVG) of the food hygiene working group, corresponding Swiss and Austrian colleagues, and later internationally recognized scientists. The magazine has been the official organ of the DVG's food hygiene department since 2006; with issue 1/2011 it became the Journal of Food Safety and Food Quality . Since 2017 the magazine has only been published in electronic form.
