Bertotovce (German Bertholdsdorf , Hungarian BERTOT ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 507 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the Prešovský kraj and becomes the traditional landscape Šariš counted.
geography
The village is located in the Šarišská vrchovina mountains in the valley of the Veľká Svinka river . The height in the almost 8.5 km² large municipal area ranges from 372 m nm to 643 m nm. The center is at an altitude of 400 m nm and is 17 kilometers away from Prešov .
In terms of traffic, the municipality is located on the 1st order road 18 between Levoča and Prešov.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1320 as vila Bertholdi and belonged to the estate of Svinia . In 1787 there were 57 houses and 447 inhabitants and in 1828 57 houses and 430 inhabitants.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 491 residents in Bertotovce, including 481 Slovaks, three Czechs and one Russian. Six residents made no statement. 468 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, eleven residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Orthodox Church. Five residents had no denomination and six residents had no denomination.
