Podhradík (until 1927 Slovak and "Sebes"; Hungarian Sebesváralja ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 398 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the Prešovský kraj , and is the traditional landscape Šariš counted.
geography
The village is located in the north-eastern part of the Košická kotlina basin on the northwestern foothills of the Slanské vrchy mountains , by the Šebastovka brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 358 m nm and is 10 kilometers from Prešov .
Neighboring municipalities are Vyšná Šebastová in the west and north, Okružná in the northeast, Pavlovce in the east, Zlatá Baňa and Ruská Nová Ves in the south and Teriakovce in the southwest.
history
The place developed from a settlement below the Šebeš Castle and was first mentioned in writing in 1427 as Waryala . In 1787 the village had 37 houses and 251 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 41 houses and 341 inhabitants who were employed as cattle keepers and forest workers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the census in 2011 lived in Podhradík 370 inhabitants, including 346 Slovaks , two Russian women and Ukrainian and one Czech . 19 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
259 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 39 residents joined the Evangelical Church AB, 19 residents joined the Greek Catholic Church, two residents joined the Orthodox Church and one resident of another denomination. Seven residents had no denomination and 43 residents had no denomination.
