Tulčík (up to 1927 "Tilčík"; Hungarian Töltszék ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,320 (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the kraj Prešovský , and is the traditional landscape Šariš counted.
geography
The village is located on the southern edge of the Low Beskydy Mountains in the valley of the Sekčov River . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 286 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Prešov .
Neighboring municipalities are Demjata in the north, Lopúchov in the northeast, Podhorany in the east, Fulianka and Kapušany in the south, Fintice in the southwest, Záhradné in the west and Veľký Slivník in the northwest.
history
Today's municipal area was settled in the Neolithic, there are also finds from the Copper and Hallstatt times.
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1248 as Teuchik and at that time it was owned by Sharosh Castle . Linguistically there is a relationship with the Slavic word tul or Slovak tulec , in German quiver . In 1348 there was a toll station here, and in 1411 Sigismund of Luxembourg donated the place to the estate of Kapušany Castle . In 1427 the village had a total of 58 portals . The Kapy dynasty owned estates in the village until the 19th century, then the Ghillányis in the 19th century . In 1828 there were 109 houses and 802 residents who lived from agriculture and fruit growing.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Tulčík had 1,311 inhabitants, of which 1,278 were Slovaks, four Ukrainians, three Czechs and one each Magyar, Moravian, Pole and Russian. 22 residents gave no information in this regard. 1213 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 45 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, seven residents to the Evangelical Church AB and two residents to the Orthodox Church; one resident professed a different denomination. Eleven residents had no denomination and 32 residents had no denomination.
