Teriakovce (1927-1948 Slovak "Terjakovce" - until 1927 "Tiriekovce"; Hungarian Terjékfalva - until 1907 Terjékfalu ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 820 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the Prešovský kraj , and is part of the traditional Šariš landscape .
geography
The community is located in the northern part of the Košická kotlina basin at the transition to the Slanské vrchy mountains to the east , on a slight hill between the Šalgovícky potok and Čerešňovský potok . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 355 m nm and is seven kilometers away from Prešov .
Neighboring municipalities are Prešov ( Šalgovík districts ) and Vyšná Šebastová in the north, Podhradík in the east, Ruská Nová Ves in the south and Prešov ( Solivar district ) in the west.
history
Teriakovce was first mentioned in writing in 1385 as Terykfalua . In 1427 the village was taxed at eight porta . In 1787 the village had 41 houses and 284 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 40 houses and 302 inhabitants who were employed as carters and farmers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Teriakovce had 547 residents, including 503 Slovaks , 15 Russian and one Ukrainian . Four residents indicated a different ethnic group and 24 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
430 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 31 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 20 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, five residents to the Seventh-day Adventists and four residents each to the Orthodox Church and the Reformed Church. 24 residents had no denomination and 29 residents had no denomination.
