Záborské (1927-1948 Slovak "Haršag" - to 1927 "Haršak"; Hungarian Harság ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,003 (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District of, part kraj Prešovský , and is the traditional Landscape Šariš counted.
geography
The village is located in the Košická kotlina basin in the Torysa valley , by the Záborský brook . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 320 m nm and is eight kilometers away from Prešov .
Neighboring communities are Dulova Ves in the north and east, Žehňa in the south-east, Petrovany in the south and Prešov ( Solivar district ) in the west and north-west.
history
Záborské was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1304 as Hasag , at that time as the estate of the squire Petej , son of Sinko . In 1424 the Farkas family became owners of the local estates and kept them until 1787. In 1427, 12 porta were recorded in a tax register. In 1787 the village had 53 houses and 414 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 63 houses and 487 inhabitants who were employed as farmers. The last owners came from the Zaturecký family .
Until 1918/1919, the place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
The original place name Haršag is of Hungarian origin and means linden branch in German .
population
According to the 2011 census, Záborské had 567 inhabitants, 552 of whom were Slovaks , four Russians and two Magyars, as well as one Jew and one Russian . Seven residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
476 residents professed their support for the Roman Catholic Church, 34 residents for the Greek Catholic Church, 10 residents for the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each for the Baha'i, the Jewish community and the Reformed Church. 33 residents had no religious affiliation and 11 residents had no denomination.
