Malý Slivník (Hungarian Kisszilva ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 997 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the Prešovský kraj , and is the traditional landscape Šariš counted.
geography
The municipality is located in the northeastern part of the Šarišská vrchovina mountain range on a small tributary of the Mošurovanka , in the catchment area of the Sekčov . The center of the village is at an altitude of 364 m nm and is 17 kilometers from Prešov .
Neighboring municipalities are Terňa in the west and north, Geraltov in the northeast and Veľký Slivník in the east and south.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1248 as Ujszilva and was at that time an estate in the territory of the Sharosh Castle . In 1389 a noble family of Rozhanovce received the property. In 1427 there are 24 portals in a tax register. Modern owners came from the Tárcsay , Kecer and Bornemissza families, among others . In 1828 there were 32 houses and 245 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, forest workers and weavers.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Malý Slivník had 824 inhabitants, including 575 Slovaks , 181 Roma , two Czechs and one Magyar . 65 inhabitants did not provide any information on ethnicity .
619 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, six residents the Greek Catholic Church and one resident of the Evangelical Church AB. Six residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 192 residents was not determined.
