history
Hermanovce was first mentioned in writing in 1320 as villa Hermani Superior et Inferior , after it was founded around 1300. The division into an upper and lower part is due to a division between the sons of the then landlord of Svinia , to whose estate the place belonged. In 1427 there were around 50 subject families in the village. It was not until the 18th century that the places separated by the Hermanka brook were reunified . In 1828 there were 88 houses and 656 inhabitants.
The name comes from the name of a mayor , the founder of the place, who was called Hermann.
