Bajerov (until 1927 Slovak and "Bajorov"; German Bayersdorf , Hungarian Bajor ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 439 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in Prešov District , part of the kraj Prešovský , and is the traditional landscape Šariš counted .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Šarišská vrchovina mountain range in the valley of the Kvačiansky potok . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 349 m nm and is 15 kilometers away from Prešov .
Neighboring municipalities are Brežany in the north, Rokycany in the east, Janov in the southeast, Sedlice in the south, Kvačany in the west and Žipov and Ondrašovce in the northwest.
history
Bajerov was first mentioned in writing as Bayor or Bavari in 1332 , when a nobleman named Béke received the local property from the Hungarian King Charles I as a reward for his services in the fight against the Amadé family . He and his descendants settled here and founded a dominion that also included the neighboring villages of Kvačany, Klenov , Žipov, Brežany and Ondrašovce. In 1427 the village was taxed at 34 Porta . In 1600 there were 14 subject houses in the village. In 1787 the village had 40 houses and 294 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 37 houses and 292 inhabitants who were employed as woodcutters, farmers, carters and do-it-yourselfers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 448 residents in Bajerov, including 434 Slovaks , two Czechs and one Pole . 11 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
427 residents confessed to the Roman Catholic Church, four residents of the Greek Catholic Church and one resident of another denomination. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for 12 residents.
