Víťaz (until 1948 Slovak "Vitez", Hungarian Nagyvitéz ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 2,018 (December 31, 2019) that the Prešov District of, a circle kraj Prešovský heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Šarišská vrchovina mountains, immediately east of the Branisko Mountains on the Dolinský creek . The center of the village is at an altitude of 505 m nm and is 11 kilometers from Krompachy and 23 kilometers from Prešov .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the municipal parts Dolina and Víťaz.
history
Víťaz was first mentioned in writing in 1272 and was probably founded at the beginning of the 13th century by a lowly nobleman. A church was built in the 14th century. In 1427 40 subject families are listed here. In 1828 there are 90 houses and 680 inhabitants.
