Berching wind farm
The Berching community wind farm is located on a plateau east of the city of Berching in the Neumarkt district in Upper Palatinate (Bavaria) between Nuremberg, Ingolstadt and Regensburg. It consists of ten wind turbines with a total output of 26.9 megawatts as well as a specially constructed 110 kV substation. The wind turbines are operated by companies belonging to the Max Bögl , Windpower and Wust - Wind und Sonne groups. In 2014, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs recognized Windpower GmbH for the Berching community wind farm project as a creator of the energy transition .
General information
Windpower GmbH from Regensburg built most of the Berching community wind farm in 2012 and 2013 in cooperation with Max Bögl from Sengenthal near Neumarkt . The seven inland wind turbines of the three-megawatt class from Senvion have an installed capacity of 22 MW and generate around 50 million kWh of green electricity per year. Mathematically, this corresponds to 150 percent of the consumption of the city of Berching, including commercial and industrial electricity. The wind farm saves around 45,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year .
The wind park was financed as a community wind park . Over 2,300 people and eight municipalities are involved in the wind turbines directly through the operating companies or indirectly through the Maxwind Fund, the Upper Palatinate Wind Fund and several citizens ' energy cooperatives .
history
The first wind turbine, an Enercon E-40 / 5.40 , was built in 1998. It was followed in 2001 by two more systems, an Enercon E-58 and a NEG Micon NM60 / 1000 . In 2012, the wind farm was expanded to include six Senvion 3.2M114 wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 114 meters and a hub height of 143 meters. You harvest wind on 10,207 m², this corresponds to an area of one and a half football fields. Construction of these first six plants began on April 23, 2012, and the first plants fed electricity into the grid for the first time in August. A new type of climbing crane from Max Bögl from Sengenthal was used to set up these systems . All systems were completed in October. At the time of construction, they were among the largest wind turbines in Bavaria. Parallel to the construction of the wind turbines, a 110 kV substation was built to feed in the wind power. This is directly connected to the 110 kV Neumarkt-Sittling line running through the wind farm. This means that these wind turbines feed directly into the supraregional power grid at the highest voltage level, which means that line losses are very low. The Bürgerwindgesellschaft Windpower GmbH & Co. Jura-Windkraftwerke KG, founded in 1998 with 80 partners from the region, carried out the first Bavarian repowering project in the Berching wind farm in 2013. A seventh Senvion 3.2M114 system was installed as a repowering replacement for the Enercon E-58 . The old system was shut down at the end of 2013 when the modern system was commissioned and dismantled a few months later. It was rebuilt in Eastern Europe. At the same time, a Vestas V112-3.0MW was built, which is also operated as a community wind turbine .
