Župčany (until 1927 Slovak "Žubčany"; Hungarian Zsebefalva ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,690 (December 31, 2019) that the Prešov District , a circle of kraj Prešovský heard and the traditional landscape Šariš is counted.
geography
The municipality is located in the Šarišská vrchovina mountains in the headwaters of the Šarišský creek . The town center is at an altitude of 315 m nm , seven kilometers west of Prešov .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1248 and until the end of the 14th century it was part of the territory of Scharosch Castle , after which it belonged to various landowners (until 1884). In 1828 there are 68 houses and 511 inhabitants.
