The Diocese of Rožňava or Diocese of Rosenau ( Latin : Dioecesis Rosnaviensis ; Slovak .: Rožňavská diecéza ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in the south of Slovakia with its seat in Rožňava .
history
- 1776: In the north of the former Kingdom of Hungary belonging city Rožňava a bishopric was Queen Maria Theresa founded. The Apostolic Administration Rožňava became part of the Archdiocese of Gran , which was subordinate to the Church Province of Gran.
- 1977: In the course of the reorganization of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia , the existing administration by the Hungarian Archdiocese of Esztergom was abolished. The diocese of Spiš , which was located in the ecclesiastical province of Eger , was incorporated into the newly created ecclesiastical province of Bratislava-Trnava as a suffragan diocese .
- 1995: The dioceses of Rožňava and Spiš are subordinated to the Archdiocese of Košice .
