Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia

The Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church and is led by the Pope and the Slovak bishops . About 68% of the Slovaks profess the Roman Catholic Church, making it the largest religious community in Slovakia . In addition, there is a Greek Catholic Church united with the Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia with a population of around 6%. The Seven Sorrows of Mary are venerated as the national church holiday in Slovakia on September 15th (public holiday).

The Slovak state pays the clergy's salaries.

The Holy See is represented in Slovakia by an Apostolic Nuncio . Since April 1, 2017 this has been Archbishop Giacomo Guido Ottonello .
