The Roman Catholic Church in the Republic of Moldova is a diaspora church in the Republic of Moldova . The vast majority of the country's population, over 90 percent, belong to the Moldovan Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Bessarabia .

The around 20,000 Roman Catholic Christians in Moldova are cared for pastorally in 16 parishes , and there is also a parish for Greek Catholic Christians. The Apostolic Administration established in 1993 , which was formed from parts of the two dioceses of Iași and Tiraspol , was elevated to the Diocese of Chișinău on October 27, 2001 .

The Apostolic Nuncio has been the Spanish Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía since January 25, 2016 .
