The Moldovan Orthodox Church ( Romanian Biserica Ortodoxă din Moldova ; Russian Православная церковь Молдовы ) is an autonomous Eastern Orthodox Church under the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of the Republic of Moldova , where it is the largest Christian denomination.

In 2004, around 80% of the Orthodox communities in the Republic of Moldova belonged to the Moldovan Orthodox Church.

The main church is the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău .

In 1992 there was a serious conflict when part of the priesthood split off to rebuild the Romanian-oriented Orthodox Church of Bessarabia .
