Roman Catholic Church in Portugal

The Roman Catholic Church in Portugal is divided into 21 dioceses, of which Lisbon , Braga and Évora are archbishopric. Around nine million people profess Catholicism in Portugal . They are looked after by 4,000 priests.

The central body of the Portuguese bishops is the Portuguese Bishops' Conference .

The Holy See is represented by an Apostolic Nuncio . Archbishop Ivo Scapolo has held this office since August 2019 .
