The Roman Catholic Diocese of Lamego ( Latin Dioecesis Lamacensis , Portuguese Diocese de Lamego ) is in the north of Portugal located Roman Catholic diocese based in the city of Lamego .
history
Bishops' names are known as early as the 6th century; Officially, however, the Lamego diocese was not established until 4 years after the independence of Portugal (1139), i.e. in 1143, and was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Braga as a suffragan . On April 20, 1922, the Lamego diocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Vila Real diocese .
