The Roman Catholic Diocese of Aveiro ( Latin Dioecesis Aveirensis , Portuguese Diocese of Aveiro ) is in Portugal situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Aveiro .

history

The diocese of Aveiro was founded on August 24, 1938 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Omnium Ecclesiarum from cessions of territory from the dioceses of Coimbra , Porto and Viseu and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Braga as a suffragan diocese.
