Ivo Scapolo
Ivo Scapolo (born July 24, 1953 in Terrassa Padovana ) is an Italian clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
Ivo Scapolo was ordained a priest on June 4, 1978 . In 1984 he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and initially worked in several nunciatures before moving to the section for relations with states in the Vatican State Secretariat.
Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 26, 2002 titular archbishop pro hac vice of Thagaste and apostolic nuncio in Bolivia . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano on May 12 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Antonio Mattiazzo , Archbishop ad personam of Padua , and Oscar Rizzato , almsman of the Apostolic Alms Administration .
On January 17, 2008, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Rwanda . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on July 15, 2011 as Apostolic Nuncio in Chile . On August 29, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal .
