Roman Catholic Church in Serbia
The Roman Catholic Church in Serbia is a diaspora church .
The theologian Grulich estimated in 2008 that at that time one could assume half a million Catholics in all of Serbia and Montenegro. That would be about 5% of the population. In 2010 the proportion of Catholics in the Serbian population was estimated at 4%.
The largest diocese in Serbia is Subotica with 300,000 believers. Around 100 Catholic priests now work in 114 parishes. In 2007, the foundation stone for the first Catholic seminary for the whole of Serbia was laid in the Serbian city of Subotica.
Diocesan organization
A historical diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Serbia was the Apostolic Administratur Jugoslavenska Bačka , to which the dioceses of Subotica and Zrenjanin belonged.
The diocese of Prizren-Pristina is located in Kosovo .
