Roman Catholic Church in Montenegro

The Roman Catholic Church in Montenegro is a small diaspora church . About 21,000 Catholics live in Montenegro. Most of the country’s inhabitants belong to the Orthodox Church , besides the Catholic there is also a Muslim minority in Montenegro.

  • There are two Roman Catholic dioceses, the immediate Archdiocese of Bar and the Diocese of Kotor . Most of the faithful in the Diocese of Kotor speak Croatian , the Catholics there belong to the Croatian minority of Montenegro. Kotor is traditionally a suffragan of the Dalmatian metropolis Split-Makarska and the Bishop of Kotor is a member of the International Bishops' Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius . In the Archdiocese of Bar, slightly more than half of the Catholics speak Albanian . On January 19, 2013, all Greek Catholics in Montenegro were integrated into the Roman Catholic Church in Montenegro.
