Roman Catholic Church in Russia
The Roman Catholic Church in Russia is part of the World Roman Catholic Church .
One million of the approximately 142 million Russians profess to the Roman Catholic Church. The Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Russia has been the Diocesan Bishop of Saratov , Clemens Pickel , since 2017 .
After anti-Catholic sentiment among the Russian population at the turn of the millennium, the Russian Federation and the Holy See established full diplomatic relations in December 2009. Archbishop Giovanni d'Aniello has represented the Holy See as Apostolic Nuncio in the Russian Federation since 2020 ; he succeeds Celestino Migliore , who held the office from 2016 to 2020.
