The Roman Catholic Mission sui juris Tajikistan (Latin: Tadzikistanianus ) was established on September 29, 1997 by Pope John Paul II and separated from the administrative area of ​​the Apostolic Administration of Kazakhstan. From 1997 to 1999 the number of Catholics in Tajikistan increased from 180 to 245.

Communities

The mission area covers all of Tajikistan . There are 2 communities.

  • St. Josef parish (based in Dushanbe in western Tajikistan)
  • St. Rochus parish (seat in Qurghonteppa in southern Tajikistan)

The mission is led by the superior. The first and current superior has been Rev. P. Carlos Antonio Ávila VE since September 29, 1997 . At the side of the superior are other missionaries (ordained priests) who hold offices in parishes and institutions.
