The Roman Catholic Church in Kuwait is a small minority church in Arabia .
history
It began around 1945 with a Carmelite mission . Mainly shaped by Catholic guest workers , who still make up the majority of the faithful there, the mission station already had 700 believers in 1948 and was able to start building a small church in November 1948 . On June 29, 1953, Kuwait was separated from the Apostolic Vicariate of Arabia , which had its seat in Aden , and with its 17,900 km² raised to an independent Apostolic Prefecture . On December 2, 1954, Kuwait itself became a Vicariate Apostolic and received its first bishop . In 2011 the Vicariate was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Northern Arabia .
