Petar Antun Rajič (born June 12, 1959 in Toronto , Canada ) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Petar Rajic was born into a Croatian family from the Herzegovinian municipality Doljani in the twentieth century after Canada emigrated. The Archbishop of Vrhbosna , Marko Jozinović , ordained him on November 30, 1986 as a deacon and the Bishop of Mostar-Duvno-Trebinje-Mrkan , Pavao Žanić , ordained him on June 29, 1987 as a priest .

Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) on July 1, 1994 and the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on September 9, 2003 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Petar Rajič on December 2, 2009 Titular Archbishop of Sarsenterum and Apostolic Nuncio in Kuwait , Oman , Bahrain and Qatar and Apostolic Delegate for the Arabian Peninsula . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on January 23, 2010; Co- consecrators were Vinko Cardinal Puljić , Archbishop of Vrhbosna, and Ratko Perić , Bishop of Mostar-Duvno . As a motto he chose Christ Dominus nos liberavit . On March 27 of the same year he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Yemen and the United Arab Emirates .

On June 15, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe . On June 15, 2019, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Lithuania by Pope Francis . On August 6 of the same year, the Pope also appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Latvia and Estonia .
