Luigi Conti (diplomat)
Luigi Conti (born March 2, 1929 in Ceprano , Frosinone Province , Italy , † December 5, 2015 in Viterbo ) was an Italian clergyman and diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
Luigi Conti was ordained a priest on September 29, 1954 . On June 21, 1963, Pope Paul VI awarded him . the honorary title of Surplus Secret Chamberlain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ).
On August 1, 1975, Pope Paul VI appointed him. as Apostolic Nuncio in Haiti and Titular Archbishop of Gratiana . Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Villot gave him episcopal ordination on October 5th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Bernardin Gantin and Archbishop Michele Federici , Bishop of Veroli-Frosinone .
On November 19, 1983 he was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Iraq and Kuwait by Pope John Paul II . On January 17, 1987, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Ecuador . On April 12, 1991 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Honduras . On May 15, 1999, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Turkey and Turkmenistan . On August 8, 2001, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Libya and Malta . John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on June 5, 2003.
