George Panikulam

George Panikulam (born October 26, 1942 in Puthenchira , India ) is a Syro-Malabar archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

George Panikulam received on 11 March in 1967 by the Bishop of Trichur , George Alapatt , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 4, 1999 Pope appointed him John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Montesarchio and ordered him to the Apostolic Nuncio in Honduras . The Pope himself donated his episcopal ordination on January 6, 2000; Co-consecrators were the substitute of the State Secretariat , Giovanni Battista Re , and the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Marcello Zago OMI .

On July 3, 2003, George Panikulam became Apostolic Nuncio in Mozambique . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on October 28, 2008 as Apostolic Nuncio in Ethiopia , special envoy to the African Union and as Apostolic Delegate in Somalia . On December 18 of the same year, George Panikulam was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Djibouti .

Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Uruguay on June 14, 2014 . Upon reaching the age limit of 75, the Pope accepted his resignation in October 2017.
