Paul-Mounged El-Hachem

Paul-Mounged El-Hachem (born September 8, 1934 in Akoura ) is a Maronite archbishop .

Life

El-Hachem was ordained a priest in the Maronite rite on March 28, 1959 and worked as a pastor in Lebanon for years . Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) on December 11, 1978 .

On June 10, 1995, El-Hachem was appointed to succeed Philippe Boutros Chebaya as Maronite Bishop of Baalbek-Deir El-Ahmar , Lebanon. He was ordained bishop on September 13 of the same year by the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch Nasrallah, Pierre Cardinal Sfeir ; Co- consecrators were Boutros Gemayel , Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus , and Roland Aboujaoudé , auxiliary bishop in the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch.

With effect from August 27, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI. El-Hachem titular Archbishop of Darnis . On the same day, El-Hachem was called by the Pope to be Apostolic Nuncio to Kuwait , Bahrain , Yemen , Qatar and the United Arab Emirates . His successor in Baalbek was Simon Atallah .

On December 2, 2009, he retired according to age .
