The diocese of Prizren-Pristina ( Latin Dioecesis Prisrianensis-Pristinensis ) is the administrative and jurisdiction district of the Catholic Church in Kosovo . The diocese , directly subordinate to the Holy See , covers an area of ​​11,800 square kilometers.

history

As early as the 10th century there was a diocese of Prizren (Latin: Dioecesis Prisrianensis ). It was replaced on October 2, 1969 by the Diocese of Skopje-Prizren . The current diocese was established on May 24, 2000 by the division of the Diocese of Skopje-Prizren as the Apostolic Administration Prizren . On September 5, 2018, Pope Francis raised the administration to the rank of diocese and appointed the previous administrator Dodë Gjergji as the first diocesan bishop .
