Mark Sopi

Mark Sopi (born February 26, 1938 in Binač near Vitina , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ; † January 11, 2006 in Pristina , Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) was a Roman Catholic Bishop and Apostolic Administrator of Prizren in Kosovo .

Life

Sopi was ordained a priest on June 29, 1968 and worked as a pastor in Prizren. In 1996 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Skopje-Prizren in Macedonia and Titular Bishop of Celerina . The episcopal ordination donated him Pope John Paul II. Himself; Co- consecrators were the official in the Vatican State Secretariat and later Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re and the Secretary of the Congregation for the Bishops and later Cardinal Jorge María Mejía .

During his tenure in 2000, the apostolic administration Prizren , which includes Kosovo, was separated. He maintained close contacts with the Limburg bishop Franz Kamphaus and the Vienna Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, as well as with the politician Ibrahim Rugova .

Bishop Sopi died of a heart attack and was buried on January 14, 2006 in his birthplace in Binça, in the parish of Vitina .
