Miguel Maury Buendía
Miguel Maury Buendía (born November 19, 1955 in Madrid , Spain ) is a Spanish clergyman, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
Maury Buendía was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Madrid on June 26, 1980 by the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Vicente Enrique y Tarancón . He received a doctorate in canon law and entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1987 . He was active in the Papal Missions in Rwanda , Uganda , Morocco , Nicaragua , Egypt , Slovenia , Ireland and the Section for Relations with the States of the State Secretariat . In addition to Spanish, he speaks English, Italian, French and Slovenian.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 19, 2008 Titular Archbishop of Italica and appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. He received his episcopal ordination on June 12, 2008, Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone SDB ; Co- consecrators were Antonio María Cardinal Rouco Varela , Archbishop of Madrid, and Archbishop Pier Giacomo De Nicolò , Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland and Liechtenstein .
On December 5, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Romania . On January 25, 2016, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Moldova .
