Francisco-Javier Lozano Sebastián (born November 28, 1943 in Villaverde de Iscar ) is a Spanish clergyman and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, Antonio Samorè , ordained him a priest on March 19, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Penafiel and apostolic nuncio in Tanzania on July 9, 1994 . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano on 25 July of the same year; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Josip Uhač , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Carlos Amigo Vallejo, OFM , Archbishop of Seville .

On March 20, 1999, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the Democratic Republic of the Congo . From 2001 he was active as Curia Archbishop in the Vatican State Secretariat and was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Croatia on August 4, 2003 . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on December 10, 2007 as Apostolic Nuncio in Romania and Moldova . With the appointment of his successor Miguel Maury Buendía on December 5, 2015, his term as nuncio in Romania ended.
