Franco Coppola

Franco Coppola (born March 31, 1957 in Maglie ) is an Italian archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Franco Coppola was ordained a priest on September 12, 1981 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on July 16, 2009 titular archbishop pro hac vice of Vinda and apostolic nuncio in Burundi . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on September 12 of the same year; Co - consecrators were Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Cardinal Bertone SDB , Cardinal Secretary of State and Cardinal Chamberlain , and Cardinal William Joseph Levada , Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith , President of the International Theological Commission and the Pontifical Biblical Commission .

Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to the Central African Republic on January 31, 2014 . On April 2, 2014, Pope Francis also appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Chad .

On July 9, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico .
