Maglie is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) in Apulia .
geography
The community has 14,040 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
The place is located 29 kilometers southwest of the city of Lecce and 16 kilometers west of Otranto in the province of Lecce . Gallipoli in the west is 31 kilometers away. Maglie belongs to the Salento .
history
During archaeological excavations in Cattie in 1980 numerous Paleolithic finds were made. Numerous megaliths that were joined together to form dolmens show that there was settlement for the Bronze and Early Iron Ages .

The State Road 16 Adriatica is expanded as a bypass around the town.
At Maglie station , the Maglie – Otranto line meets the Zollino – Gagliano Leuca line .
