Botrugno is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2694 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about kilometers from Lecce in Salento and belongs to the Unione delle Terre di Mezzo .
history
There is an approximately 135 cm high menhir in the municipality from prehistoric times.
The community goes back to the founding of a city by the Greeks. In 1193, Tankred von Lecce gave the property to Lancellotto Capace . Botrugno has been an independent municipality since 1958.
