history

The place name could come from the Latin castrum .

The Morciano-Castrignano-Barbarano-Giuliano train station is on the Novoli-Gagliano Leuca railway line .

Attractions

In the old town center are the churches of San Giuseppe (construction began in 1620) and Madre dedicata a San Michele Arcangelo . The latter was destroyed by an earthquake in February 1743. But it was immediately rebuilt.
