Carmiano (in the local dialect: Carmianu ) is a southern Italian community ( comune ).

It has 11,942 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located in the province of Lecce in Apulia , in the heart of Salento , about 11 kilometers west of the city of Lecce . The distance to the Ionian Sea is 20 kilometers and to the Adriatic about 16 kilometers. Like Lecce itself, Carmiano is located in the Valle della Cupa .
