Ortelle (in the Salentine dialect: Arteḍḍhre ) is a south-eastern Italian municipality with 2317 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about 41 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in Salento .

history

Ortelle originally goes back to a Hellenic foundation in southern Apulia. It is also possible that Messapier was founded .
