The municipality is located about 45 kilometers south-southwest of Lecce in southern Salento . The distance to the Ionian Sea in a south-westerly direction is 5 kilometers.

history

Dolmens such as the Torre Ospina from the Bronze Age have been preserved in the municipality . Later the Messapiers also settled here .
