Nociglia is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2215 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about 38 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento . It is about ten kilometers to the east to the Ionian Sea . Nociglia is part of the Unione dei Comuni delle Terre di Mezzo .

history

The community has been settled since the 3rd century BC. The Messapiers originally lived here. A nucillium then existed on the Via Traiana in Roman times .
