Ruffano is a south- east Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9625 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about 42 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento .
history
Ruffano first appeared as a town in documents in 1463 and at that time it belonged to the Principality of Taranto.
