Cavallino is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,765 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about 6 kilometers southeast of Lecce in Salento .
Prehistory and History
The remains of the settlement range from the Bronze Age to the 3rd century BC. After that the place was apparently abandoned. In addition to finds of stone tools, menhirs such as the 2.6 m high menhir from Ussano date from the early period . The Bronze Age, rather small groups of huts were located in the Località Pere and north of it.
