Sanarica is a south-east Italian municipality ( comune ).

geography

The community has 1477 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the province of Lecce in Apulia , about 33.5 kilometers south-southeast of the provincial capital Lecce in Salento and belongs to the Unione delle Terre di Mezzo . It is about 11.5 kilometers to the east to the Ionian Sea .

The Sanarica train station is on the Zollino – Gagliano Leuca railway line .

The former Strada Statale 497 di Maglie e di Santa Cesarea Terme (today the provincial road 363) leads through the municipality from Galatone to Santa Cesarea Terme .

In the village stands the 4.2 m high needle-like menhir "Croce" framed with a modern plinth , at the church Croce di Sant 'Antonio.
