Supersano is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4296 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecce in Apulia . The municipality is located about 39 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento . Supersano is part of the Unione delle Terre di Mezzo .
history
The community was first mentioned in a document in 1195. The fiefdom of Supersano then belonged to the Principality of Taranto. Archaeological excavations have been carried out in the small village of Scorpo since 1999 , during which finds from the 7th to 10th centuries have been recorded. The menhirs in the municipality are also of some importance. There are also well-preserved remains of a moth .
