Parish church

The first chapel was built in Pottenhofen at the time of Joseph II (2nd half of the 18th century). In 1859, today's neo-Gothic building with a facade tower was built. The nave and the retracted choir with five-eighth end have buttresses , a surrounding coffin cornice and two-lane tracery windows . The church orientation is SE – NW. The tower, positioned in the south-eastern entrance facade, is crowned by an eight-sided pointed gable helmet. The main entrance is a shoulder arch portal with a pointed arch frame and a niche figure of St. Florian. The four-bay nave and the choir have ribbed vaults . The organ gallery is arched with net ribs. In the windows there are stained glass from the beginning of the 20th century. The high altar in the northwest is a three-sided, neo-Gothic carved altar with an altar leaf St. Florian from the second half of the 19th century, flanked by figures of Saints Peter and Paul . The rest of the furnishings date from the construction period around 1860.

Parish history

Pottenhofen's mother parish was originally Falkenstein and after Ottenthal became a parish in 1581, it belonged to it. In the course of the Josephine church reforms , Pottenhofen became an independent parish in 1783.

The last pastor in Pottenhofen was F. Wech (1935–1972). From 1972 the parish was looked after by Ottenthal until 2004 and since September 1, 2004 Pottenhofen has been part of the new parish association with Wildendürnbach and Neuruppersdorf .
