Cannole (in the local dialect ( Griko ): Cannule or Cànnula ) is a south- east Italian community ( comune ).

geography

The community has 1675 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the province of Lecce in Apulia , about 27.5 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Lecce in Salento . It is ten kilometers east to the Adriatic Sea .

history

The origins of the community go back to the time of the Saracen invasions. The castle of Cannole was built in 1413 by Orsini del Balzo.
