geography
The community has 3178 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the province of Lecce in Apulia , about 58 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Lecce in southern Salento . It is right on the Ionian Sea .
history
Morciano di Leuca and the districts emerged in the 9th century after the city of Vereto was destroyed by the Saracens .
