A Curia Bishop or Curia Archbishop is a Roman Catholic bishop who does not preside over a diocese , but as titular bishop (or if he was previously a diocesan bishop , as old bishop of his previous diocese) in the Vatican in the administration of the universal Church (the curia ). The same applies to the better-known Curial Cardinal .

A well-known curia archbishop is Georg Gänswein , well-known curia bishops are Josef Clemens and Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst .
