The Slovak Bishops' Conference ( Slovak Konferencia biskupov Slovenska ( KBS )) was founded on March 23, 1993, at the request of the Bishops of Slovakia and after approval by the Holy See on March 23, 1993. The headquarters of the Bishops' Conference is in Bratislava . She is a member of the Council of European Bishops 'Conferences (CCEE) and sends a representative to the Commission of Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE).

Task

The CAB is a permanent institution and the Assembly of Bishops of Slovakia. The Bishops' Conference sees its main task in fulfilling the pastoral care tasks that are to be fulfilled for the believers in Slovakia. On the basis of the Codex Iuris Canonici (CIC 447 ff.), The people should be offered an apostolate , which is based on the circumstances of the time and should be adapted to the norms of law.

Working method

Individual commissions and committees work within the range of tasks of the CAB , which strive comprehensively for the activities of the Church within itself , as well as in the relationship of the Church to society and the spread of Christian values ​​in every area of ​​life. The episcopal community of the Slovak hierarchy also includes emeritus bishops, as well as bishops who were ordained outside of Slovakia and who continue to work abroad.

The president is Stanislav Zvolenský , Archbishop of Bratislava , and three archbishops and twelve bishops, who are presidents or chairmen of the commissions and committees, also work in the Bishops' Conference .
